The hike:

We start our hike in Keutschach and park directly opposite the very beautiful church in the center (we walk the circular hike counter-clockwise).

We walk down the main street and pass the Schlossteich (castle pond). The path continues slightly downhill until, after about 20 minutes, we discover the Keutschacher See from a distance. Now it goes along the main road towards the lake. We stop at the Spar supermarket to get some last snacks for the hike.

We circle the Spar and walk left along the path along the stream towards the lido (the lake and campsite are now on our right).

We walk along the paved path, which is suitable for pushchairs, before we turn left at a wooden bridge and walk along a small stream. Now we are already surrounded by the moor. With the help of display boards, you can always find out interesting facts about the habitats of meadows, forests, the lake and more.

We pass a small lake on the left and turn right deeper into the moor.

After about a third of the route you come to a lookout point. There we make a short detour and go up the platform to enjoy this landscape.

The circular route leads past it on the right. It is always well signposted.

After a short stretch on the paved path, we turn left into the forest. Although the forest path is narrow, it can still be managed quite easily with a pram, but you need a little more effort. Unfortunately, this section of the path is unsuitable for wheelchair users, as it is always easy uphill and downhill over roots.

After 20 minutes we come back to a paved path where we turn right. If you want to shorten the hike, you can also turn left here. However, we do not recommend this as the most beautiful part of the hike lies ahead of us.

We continue the circular hike and walk a short distance uphill to a beautiful flower meadow. From here you can see our starting point at the church as well as the Pyramidenkogel in the background to the left. Shortly afterwards, the path is briefly paved again.

We continue on a gravel path through the beautiful natural forest. After a few minutes we reach the Baßgeigensee, one of the most beautiful parts of the hike for us.

We walk around the lake counterclockwise again. At the back it is now a little uphill, but you have a wonderful view of the Baßgeigensee. Shortly afterwards you return to Keutschach.
