The Ars Electronica Center in Linz is an interactive museum dedicated to the intersection of art, technology and society. It offers a variety of exhibitions, events and programs that are appealing to both adults and children.
The 3D cinema in the Ars Electronica Center offers a varied program with over 600 films that are shown almost all day long. The films are accompanied by presenters who adapt the content depending on the focus of the program. The 3D films that focus on space are particularly impressive and offer a fascinating experience for both adults and children.
However, our impression of the film about Notre Dame was rather mixed. The images were not particularly impressive and were more reminiscent of the 3D technology of the 1980s, which unfortunately disappointed us.
Another highlight is the Deep Space Experience, which offers high-resolution 3D projections and allows visitors to take virtual journeys through space. This interactive experience is particularly impressive and also suitable for children.
Ars Electronica offers numerous interactive stations where visitors can be creative themselves. There are many exciting installations, especially for children, but not all of them are understandable at first glance. Fortunately, there are trained staff who guide you through the exhibition and explain things if necessary. Nevertheless, we found Welios in Wels even more appealing for children, as it was easier to understand the content and get involved straight away.
The exhibition at Ars Electronica is well done in itself, but overall less spectacular than expected. Many exhibits focus on the connection between art and technology, which is interesting for tech-savvy visitors. For everyone else, however, it may lack depth.
The Ars Electronica Center offers a variety of exhibitions that address current topics in digital art and technology. These include:
There are special programs for children such as the children's research laboratory, where young visitors can discover the world of science and technology in a playful way.
The Ars Electronica Center regularly hosts events and workshops, which are moderated by moderators. These events offer a deeper insight into various subject areas and enable visitors to actively participate and learn new things.
