Generally

At almost 1,600 m above sea level, the Brandalm stretches along the ski and hiking trail in the heart of the Ramsauer Alpine pastures at the foot of the Dachstein. The surrounding mountain scenery and the impressive view of the Dachstein south faces and the majestic Schladminger Tauern invite you to enjoy the sun terrace both in summer and winter.

How do you get there?

For an uncomplicated journey to the Brandalm, follow the ski and hiking trail. The hut is well signposted and can be reached directly. In winter, the toboggan runs are a particularly attractive option for reaching the alpine pasture area. We park ourselves in the car park in front of the Alpengasthaus EdelbrunnFrom there, the path goes past the guest house on the left. It goes steadily uphill on a forest path. The path could even be managed with a stroller, but our children don't find it particularly exciting.
After some time you reach the Dachsteinhaus. From here, the forest path continues steadily uphill until, after about 1 hour, you reach the Brandalm reached.

family adventures in nature

The Brandalm is not only a pleasure for adults, but also a true children's paradiseThe natural children's playground with slide, tunnel and tadpole pond offers little adventurers space to explore. Parents can sit back and relax while the little ones explore the children's alpine pasture with wooden toys. In winter, unique toboggan runs beckon along the ski path down to the valley to Ramsau.

Alpine culinary delights

The culinary delights at the Brandalm reflect the love of tradition. Regional specialties, from hearty beef soup to homemade farmer's doughnuts, make every visit a gastronomic experience. The in-house organic farm ensures authentic and sustainable delights.

We visited the Brandalm during its donut season in autumn We treated ourselves to the meat doughnuts and the cabbage doughnuts. We can highly recommend both. The climb was worth it. For dessert there is a Schüssellkrapfen with cranberries and vanilla sauce.
