The history of the castle
The castle was built at the beginning of the 12th century and is approximately 150 metres long. It is located on a steep slope about 300 metres above the right bank of the Danube. During the time of the Kuenringers, the castle was successfully besieged and destroyed at least twice, which is why only a few foundations remain at the “Bürgl”. Special sights include the inevitable prison called "Rosengärtlein" or the chapel – a romantic place that can still be used for weddings or baptisms.
