Lake Faak, nestled in the impressive mountain landscape of Carinthia, is a true natural highlight for those seeking relaxation and active holidaymakers alike. With its unmistakable turquoise blue color, it offers an idyllic panorama that attracts visitors from near and far.
The Lake Faak is the fifth largest lake in Carinthia and is practically divided in half by an island. The lake has a size of 2.2 km², reaching its maximum depth in the northern basin at 29.5 m. In summer it has very pleasant bathing temperatures. The summer months at Lake Faak are characterized by lively activities both on the water and on land. The warm temperatures invite you to swim, sail and explore the surrounding nature. Cycling, hiking and climbing in the nearby mountains offer varied alternatives to water sports. Events such as the European Bike Week attract additional visitors and ensure a varied program during the summer. There are 3 campsites on the lake, numerous restaurants and inns, cafés and pubs.
Aside from traditional swimming and sunbathing, Lake Faak offers a wide range of water sports activities. The lake's clear waters are ideal for sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. Local operators rent the necessary equipment and offer courses for beginners and advanced surfers. For those who prefer to stay on dry land, the surrounding area offers perfect conditions for mountain biking, hiking and golf.
Lake Faak has several lidos that impress with their excellent infrastructure and cleanliness. Each lido offers different amenities such as sunbathing areas, playgrounds, changing rooms and catering options to meet the needs of all visitors. The most famous lidos are the SDrobollach beach and that Faak beach, both known for their family-friendly atmosphere and safe swimming areas.
Little known so far, but on the way to a real hype, the reed meander, which can be accessed from the lake, but only with a stand-up paddle or canoe. Motorized boats are strictly prohibited, and even with a rowing boat it is very difficult to get through. Please note that this is a nature reserve!

The historical Finkenstein Castle Ruins not only offers a glimpse into the past, but also a breathtaking view over the lake and the surrounding landscape. Villach, with its charming town centre, invites you to take a stroll through the town and offers a variety of culinary delights. Although temperatures drop and the water becomes too cold for swimming, Lake Faak offers numerous activities even during this time of year. Winter hikes along the shore or through the snow-covered forests offer unique nature experiences. For the more adventurous, nearby Ski resorts like the Gerlitzen Alpe opens its doors to skiers and snowboarders.
