The Ifenbahn in Kleinwalsertal offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking views and unforgettable mountain experiences all year round. Whether for hiking in summer or skiing in winter - the modern cable car takes you quickly and comfortably to the Ifen, one of the most striking mountains in the region.
In summer, the Ifen is a hit with hikers thanks to its panoramic routes, challenging hikes and wonderful views. Spectacular rocks and the impressive Gottesacker plateau make the Ifen a fascinating natural wonder made of stone. In winter, the 10-person Ifen I and II cable cars take skiers to skiing fun on around 25 kilometers of slopes.
We park directly at the Auenhütte and now want to take the cable car up to the Ifen. Here too, the day ticket costs 5€, just like on the Walmendingerhornbahn. With the "Allgäu Walser Card" the ride is free again.
We take the gondola up to the mountain station. The ride on the cable car, built in 2017, only takes 7 minutes. Numerous hiking routes start from here. It takes about 2 hours to walk up the Hoher Ifen, but it's too hot for us today.
We decide on the short Panorama Weg, which also starts behind the Ifenhütte. The panoramic trail leads relatively flat along the meadow and has hardly any elevation gain.
After about 15 minutes the hike is over. There is no way to go any further from here. However, you have an incredibly beautiful view of the valley and the Ifen as well as the ski area.
We take the same route back to the hut. There we can enjoy a beer on the sun terrace. There is also a varied children's playground available for children.
At the valley station we want to go to the Herzsee go, a real insider tip and a recommendation from us!
