The IKUNA Nature Resort in Natternbach offers an extraordinary experience for families on 200,000 m². This huge nature adventure park features over 80 play stations – many made from sustainable natural materials – as well as themed areas, a high ropes course, a large water playground, and a weather-independent indoor hall. A place that delights children while allowing parents to relax – between the Danube and Inn rivers.
The outdoor area of the IKUNA Resort is a true family adventure. Here, children can let off steam in a spacious, traffic-free area – with balancing courses, climbing elements, slides, swings, motor skills stations, and wooden play equipment. Everything is constructed from natural materials and blends harmoniously into the surroundings.
Among the most popular highlights to count:
Go-kart track: Children ride pedal vehicles on a marked course.
FlyLine® zip line: A winding zip line through the forest for a gentle flying experience.
climbing rocks: If you want to reach high, you can test your strength and skill here.
Wooden play equipment and balancing elements: Promotes motor skills and coordination.
Silver Lake with water play area: Rafting, muddling and splashing on hot days.
The paths through the park are designed so that many stations can be reached with a stroller. Seating, lounging areas, and shady retreats are found everywhere.
The new AQUANIX water playground currently covers 600 m² and is constantly being expanded. Numerous pumping stations, watercourses, mud tables, locks, and splash elements make this area a popular destination, especially on hot summer days. The whole experience is complemented by the Pirate Island (next to it in the forest) with its small lake where children can glide across the water on rafts—a real highlight for our youngsters.
In the Pirate world – Part of the water play area – children can expect an exciting water adventure with raft rides and detailed ship elements. This section is especially popular in warm weather, when splashing and messing around is the order of the day.
The Dino World Opened in 2023, it features ten life-size, partly animatronic dinosaurs that move, make sounds, and squirt water. The area features educational information panels and is a highlight for families with young prehistoric fans.
The IKUNA Nature Resort's animal world is home to several real animals, including kangaroos and ibexes. The area is designed to be close to nature and allows children to interact with animals without the traditional petting zoo feel. We personally found this section somewhat less exciting than the other adventure areas, as there are hardly any interactive elements aside from the enclosures.
The high ropes course is located between the nature park and the indoor hall. Three levels with a total of 36 climbing elements, suspension bridges, and balance ropes offer real challenges for older children and adults. There's a separate course for younger children (ages 3 and up). A highlight is the over 90-meter-long Flying Fox and a rappelling station with panoramic views of the grounds.
In case of bad weather, you can simply move to the large indoor hall. Here you'll find:
Kids World is open daily (during school holidays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and offers fun regardless of the weather. Tickets are only available on-site.
If you want to stay more than just one day, you can stay overnight at the resort:
4-star Tipi Suites: 23 comfortable solid wood tipis with 50–120 m², private terrace and campfire area.
Starry sky chalets: 10 luxurious multi-level chalets with glass fronts and views of the stars.
NEW - Garden Rooms: Modern room category to complement the existing offer.
Camping Resort (since 2025): Camping and tent pitches surrounded by greenery, with a sauna, swimming pond, and barbecue areas. Dogs allowed.
We stayed in one of the Starry Sky Chalets. These are extremely spacious, feature high-quality furnishings, and offer plenty of room for families. The beds are very comfortable, the large terrace invites you to linger, and the location right next to AQUANIX is particularly convenient. Hotel guests at IKUNA also have the advantage of being able to stay on the premises at any time—even outside of regular opening hours, even in the middle of the night. Incidentally, the Starry Sky Chalets also include admission prices for the entire days of arrival and departure.
Important: When leaving the chalet, the electric shading above the glass roof should be activated – otherwise the house can heat up considerably due to the sun's rays.
Here you can find further information about the overnight stays.
The adventure park contains the Miraculix Inn, which is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. It offers regional dishes such as Austrian classics, pizzas, and salad bowls. Dining is available either in the covered area or outdoors.
Further north, near the tubing track, lies the “Pizza Horst" – a small, seasonal pizzeria. It's open mainly on busy days and offers freshly prepared self-service pizzas.
In the IKUNA City There is also a snack bar with typical snacks. Here you can find Bosna (€6.50), Dino Nuggets with fries (€10.50), schnitzel rolls (€6.50), fries, and other small dishes.
We found it a bit of a shame that there are no drinking fountains or places to refill water bottles anywhere on the site – this is only possible in the restrooms. Snack and drink vending machines are accessible throughout the area.
Since 2025, a small 24-hour mini-market at the campsite The culinary offerings (for hotel guests only) are available around the clock for drinks, snacks, and essentials—although at noticeably higher prices than in the supermarket.
Guests staying at the IKUNA Resort can choose between breakfast, half board, or self-catering, depending on their accommodation. For chalets and tipis, breakfast can also be delivered directly to the guesthouse upon request.
