The Kittenberger Adventure Gardens in Schiltern near Langenlois are much more than just a thriving garden show. Spanning over 60,000 square meters, they feature around 50 themed gardens, a huge adventure garden, numerous play and activity stations, and resident animals. A visit is a truly enjoyable day with countless activities, especially for families with children.
Whether you're strolling through Asian-inspired garden spaces, exploring the world's largest herb spiral, or letting off steam with your children on the adrenaline slide – here, garden art combines with play, adventure, and enjoyment. A colorful program awaits even in winter, with the Magic Ice Garden and a festive atmosphere.
Short info:
The heart of the park for young visitors is the huge adventure garden. With giant slides, an obstacle course, climbing walls, a sandpit, raft rides, a nest swing, and the longest wooden ball track in the Waldviertel, hours of entertainment are guaranteed. A highlight is the Flower pedal go-kart track – Europe's first of its kind – where children and adults cycle through fragrant flowers and herbs, enjoying a multisensory experience. Unfortunately, during our visit, a few of the go-karts were already somewhat damaged.
In winter the track transforms into the Kittenberger Ice Magic Garden with over 400 m² of weather-independent artificial ice surface.
All attractions are included in the admission price. A change of clothes for children is recommended, especially for the water features. Dogs are not allowed in the adventure garden.
In the "animal farm garden," four alpacas, ponies, pygmy goats, rabbits, and llamas await animal lovers of all ages. Kept in spacious enclosures and cared for daily, visitors can gain insights into the lives of the animals. The daily animal-themed activities are especially popular.
The Kittenberg Adventure Gardens delight with around 50 individually designed show gardens. A stroll through the grounds is like a garden journey around the world:
A special highlight is the world's largest herb spiral:
It measures 40 meters in diameter, is 9 meters high, and features a 400-meter network of paths. Two paths—the "Herbs A-Z Path" and the "Aches and Pains Path"—lead through a diverse range of plants, including over 400 different herb species.
From Wednesday to Sunday at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., an entertaining show awaits you in the Garden Arena. Acrobatics meet humorous garden scenes – an entertaining treat for the whole family.
The Glas.Haus impresses with dishes made from regional and homemade products – many ingredients come directly from the Kittenberger Gardens. Whether breakfast, homemade cakes, or freshly grilled dishes – seasonal cuisine is a top priority here. The large sun terrace with a view of the waterfall is particularly popular.
