Maria Taferl: Important pilgrimage site with views over the Danube Valley

Maria Taferl lies high above the Danube in the Nibelungengau region of Lower Austria and is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the country. The Basilica of Maria Taferl – religious center of the Nibelungengau

The pilgrimage to Maria Taferl began in the 17th century. It was triggered by reports of miraculous healings at an oak tree with an image of the Virgin Mary.
