Neuwaldegger Bad is an idyllic outdoor swimming pool in Vienna known for its quiet location and relaxed atmosphere. It offers a perfect way to escape city life and relax in a green environment.
The Neuwaldegger Bad is an idyllic outdoor pool in the Hernals district of Vienna, known for its quiet location and charming atmosphere. In 2024 it will celebrate its 100th bathing season. Nestled in the Vienna Woods, it offers an ideal escape from hectic city life and invites you to relax and enjoy.
The Neuwaldegger Bad was built in the 1920s and has retained its rural charm ever since. Despite some renovations, the bath retains its rustic style, which is underlined by the use of old wood and the scent of hay in the changing rooms. It is reminiscent of a time when relaxation in the countryside offered a welcome break from everyday urban life.
The heart of the Neuwaldegger Bad is its large swimming pool, which is divided into a deeper area and a shallow children's area. The water temperature is 24°. The surrounding meadows offer plenty of space for sunbathing, while numerous trees provide pleasant shade.
There are separate nudist areas for men and women. Thanks to the spacious sunbathing areas, you don't feel cramped even on busy days. But this is probably also due to the hefty entrance fee of €20. You have to pay another €8 for a cabin. People come here to relax. The pool is not really recommended for families with children, as there is hardly anything on offer apart from a swing and a sandpit. There are far more child-friendly pools.
The canteen at the Neuwaldegger Bad offers more than just the usual snacks. Here you can enjoy fresh, homemade dishes that are prepared daily. From the already legendary stuffed peppers to homemade cakes. Chive bread is also a permanent part of the culinary offering.
We order roasted dumplings with egg and iceberg lettuce. We think it's good, but not exceptional. Unfortunately, we also think the drinks are quite expensive. €4.50 for a small Coke is not exactly worth it. For us, this bath is wonderfully located, but is obviously designed for the wealthier class.
