The Seebensee is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol, embedded in the impressive landscape of the Mieminger chain. With its turquoise, crystal-clear water and the surrounding rugged peaks, it offers a postcard backdrop that delights both hikers and nature lovers. The lake is ideal for a day trip and is easily accessible thanks to its location on the Ehrwalder Alm. Whether summer or autumn - the Seebensee is impressive in every season.
The hike to Seebensee starts at the Ehrwalder Almbahn, where you can either take the cable car (in summer the trip up and down costs just over 20€) to the mountain station or start on foot from the valley. From Ehrwalder Almbahn car park The well-developed hiking trail leads through blooming alpine meadows and sparse forests, always with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains.
If you take the cable car, you can expect a leisurely hike of about 1.5 hours from the mountain station to the Seebensee. The path is largely flat and is therefore also suitable for less experienced hikers or families. You can even ride up here by bike. The entire route offers you beautiful panoramas of the Zugspitze massif and the Mieminger Chain.
When you arrive at Seebensee, you will be greeted by a spectacular sight: the crystal-clear water of the lake reflects the surrounding peaks and the deep blue tones of the sky. There are numerous opportunities around the lake to take a break, enjoy the view or simply linger in the silence of nature.
For experienced hikers there is the possibility to continue from here to the Coburger Hütte and the Drachensee which lies above the Seebensee. The hike takes about another hour and offers an even better view of the entire region. The Coburger Hütte is an ideal place to enjoy a snack and admire the fascinating mountain landscape from above.
