Childhood dreams come true at the Kopfing treetop walk!

Enjoy the impressive world of the forest from a bird's eye view: Over 30 experience stations bring the life and life forms of the forest closer to you in a playful way.

The wooden walkway, over 1,000 meters long and up to 15 meters high, leads through the treetops of the Sauwald forest. More than 30 interactive stations along the trail allow visitors to explore the forest's flora and fauna in a playful way. A special highlight is the 40-meter-high observation tower, which offers impressive panoramic views over the border triangle of Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic, and on a clear day, even as far as the Alps.

Interactive experience stations

Along the treetop walk, over 30 interactive stations invite visitors to experience the forest with all their senses. These stations provide playful insights into local flora and fauna and promote an understanding of the forest habitat. Whether it's balance stations, forest telephones, or informative panels, there's plenty to discover here for all ages.

Adventurous playground

Directly at Gasthof Oachkatzl Located on the grounds is the 5,000 m² adventure playground, which offers numerous attractions especially for children. Highlights include a 50-meter-long tunnel slide, a low ropes course, a giant trampoline, and a giant swing. Here, young visitors can let off steam while their parents relax in the adjacent inn and enjoy regional specialties.

Overnight stay in the tree hotels

The 21 tree hotelsLocated 10 meters above the grounds of the treetop walkway, these fully equipped accommodations accommodate couples, families, and groups. Enjoy the tranquility of the forest and wake up to the sound of birdsong. 

Events and activities

Throughout the year, a variety of events take place along the Treetop Walk, providing atmospheric entertainment in the unique ambience of the forest. Whether it's a visit from the Easter Bunny, the mystical Walpurgis Night, or the atmospheric Forest Christmas, which takes place over five weekends before Christmas – there's something for everyone! Practical information

  • Stroller suitability: Visiting the Treetop Walk is generally possible with strollers, but with some restrictions. We recommend using a baby carrier for areas with wooden structures or steps. You can safely leave your stroller at the ticket entrance while you explore. 
  • Dogs: Dogs are allowed on the treetop walk, but must be kept on a leash. Tree hotels Pets are not allowed.
  • Park: Free parking is available directly at the entrance to the treetop walk.
