Tulln: The Garden City on the Danube

Tulln on the Danube, often known as the garden city, boasts an impressive variety of green spaces that attract visitors from near and far. In addition to the famous "Garden Tulln", there are numerous cultural attractions such as the Egon Schiele Museum and the historical traces of Roman times in the Roman Museum. The picturesque Danube embankment also invites you to take relaxing walks and boat trips.

Many Viennese people only know this city from weekend shopping at the large garden centers of Praskac Pflanzenland or Starkl. It is not for nothing that the place is also known as the Garden City due to its many garden centers. The small city on the Danube with just under 17,000 inhabitants is really worth a visit.

Tulln is one of the oldest cities in Austria and was already settled in Roman times. Tulln was already called a city (Comagenis civitas) at the end of the 8th century.

Although not a tourist attraction, we can particularly recommend the Aubad of TullnThe 5 hectare natural bathing lake is the ideal destination in Lower Austria for families, amateur athletes and connoisseurs. For children, it offers a raised beach and even a water slide. Sports enthusiasts can play volleyball, basketball or football and even rent a SUP.

You can take a leisurely stroll along the DanubeHere you will find beautifully landscaped gardens along the Danube bank, as well as small sights such as the Nibelungen Monument, the Danube Stage, the Marc Aurel Statue, the Roman Tower and the Town Hall.

For those who do not want to walk so much and for children there is also a Hop on Hop off slow train through the art and garden city of Tulln.

A recommended place to stop is the Taverna Mythos, where you can eat outside in a very nice atmosphere.
