The history of the castle
At the beginning of the 12th century the castle was built with a length of about 150 meters. It is about 300 meters above the right bank of the Danube on a steep slope. At the time of the Kuenringers, the castle was successfully besieged and destroyed at least twice, which is why only a few foundations remain at the “Bürgl”. Special sights are the inevitable prison called “Rosengärtlein” or the chapel – a romantic place that can still be used for weddings or baptisms.
