General
The Congress Bath (also known colloquially Kongerl is a public swimming pool in the 16th district of Vienna, Ottakring, and is located right next to the Congress Park. It was opened in 1932 and is one of the oldest and most popular outdoor pools in Vienna. Although the building is reminiscent of decades past, this in no way affects the bathing fun of today's generation. The pool is located in a park-like setting and offers a variety of activities for young and old.
The congress pool covers an area of around 60,000 square meters and has a large swimming pool, a children's pool, a paddling pool, a water slide, a volleyball court, a table tennis court, a mini golf course and a playground. There is also a café-restaurant, a lifeguard and a first aid station.
Approach
There are a few parking spaces directly on Julius-Meinl-Gasse and in the surrounding area. However, we recommend arriving by tram line 43 or S-Bahn S-45, Hernals station.
What does the Congress Baths offer
The bathroom is well structured and offers a clear separation between the Adventure worlds and the Toddler area.
Action can be found in Sports pool and adventure pool, which of course is equipped with a long slide, which provides extra fun. Behind it is a large, but treeless lawn
For the smallest visitors A secluded area is set up at the back of the bath, which is by no means lacking in attractiveness. Here there is a Paddling pool with whirlpool and, particularly pleasant, its own wide and shallow access to the water. What bothers us a little is the fact that there is no shaded area at the children's pool, so the children are always exposed to direct sunlight.
However, the congress pool compensates for this with an extensive lawn directly behind it, which provides sufficient shade from the trees.
The children's playground is secured with soft rubber flooring, but is also in full sun. Only the sandpit is covered and offers the little guests a shady place to play.
