Exciting and pure fun: The Familypark in Burgenland
The Familypark in Sankt Margarethen with an area of around 145,000 m² is Austria's largest leisure and family park. Everyone who has children knows this park in eastern Austria. It was founded in 1968 as a family business with the name "Fairytale forest". The theme park has borne its current name since 2015. Filippo the cat is the park's mascot.

- Is the visit worthwhile? Yes, especially with children. But adults don't miss out either.
- What is on offer? There are rollercoasters, water rides, round and themed rides for all ages. Children's height is measured before the ride!
There are around 80 attractions in four themed areas:
- Adventure castle: Theme world with attractions for younger visitors (e.g. balloon carousel, dragon train, vintage car convoy)
- Fairytale forest: The oldest part of the park with stories and representations of well-known fairy tales. It is only interesting for small children.
- Adventure Island: Mediterranean-style theme world with rollercoaster and larger rides (e.g. Leonardo's flying machine, crocodile ride, sea dragon, lightning of the gods)
- Farm: Attractions related to rural life (e.g. Rattenmühle rollercoaster, tractor ride, apple flight, forest animal race)
The highlights
Of course, the highlights depend somewhat on the age and size of the child.
One of the most visited highlights in the park is the Rollercoaster Götterblitz. For those who want to feel the wind in their hair, this attraction offers the ideal opportunity. The Family rollercoaster Rattenmühle with its rapid changes of direction also makes for a fun ride.
A unique experience awaits visitors during a Sightseeing flight at a height of up to 20 metres with Leonardo's flying machine. Those who have mastered the technique can even perform a rotation around their own axis. From the Roman tower From the terrace, on the other hand, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Ruster Hügelland nature reserve and Lake Neusiedl.
A special experience is the new exhibition centre opening in summer 2022. Wild water ride Biberburg. Here guests can expect a fast-paced ride in a tree trunk, past funny beaver scenes, before taking an open lift to a height of 17 metres.
For refreshing moments on hot summer days Numerous water attractions are available. You can take a few laps on the flying fish or venture into the cool water on the crocodile train. Neptune's Water World and the waterworks offer additional water fun with bubbling and varied water games.
New in Familypark since 2024
Azure: A giant swing that takes you up to 12 meters high. This attraction is surrounded by colorful dragon eggs and offers an exciting flying experience. Children over 100 cm can ride accompanied by an adult, and over 120 cm can ride alone.
Oak Convoy: Here, a group of funny gnomes ensure that there are always enough acorns for energy production. This ride is possible for children over 100 cm tall, younger children need to be accompanied.
Furthermore, the sailors' meeting place, a souvenir shop and 16 newly designed fairy tale scenes
General information
In addition to the 31 rides, the Family Park offers numerous other adventures, such as adventure and water playgrounds, climbing gardens, musical theater and hands-on games, where there is a lot to discover. In general, the park is very beautiful and spacious. There are enough places to escape the hustle and bustle. For the very young, there are changing stations and microwaves for baby food.
Tip: From 25 October to 5 November, the well-known Halloween party in the Familypark will take place! Look forward to shows and gruesomely beautiful decorations!
Food & Drink
Several restaurants and stalls offer classics such as meatloaf or schnitzel rolls, hot dogs, fries, homemade stone oven pizza, pasta or ice cream. For the health-conscious, the Familypark offers organic chickpea curry with basmati rice for 10.90 euros, various bowls with fish/vegan meatballs/or chicken and chickpeas and vegetables, focaccia (salad pizza), vegan burgers, various salad variations and more.
