The Eis-Greissler in Krumbach, Lower Austria, is a small adventure park that is beautifully situated in the middle of the Bucklige Welt. In total, there are over 15 attractions included. The following areas are distinguished: adventure park, ice time travel and gastronomy. But first things first.
Adventure Park
The adventure park is ideal for children aged 3 and over, as they are otherwise too small for many of the rides, but they are of course allowed in. Here are a few of the highlights:
Ice water world
Play, splash, refresh: your children will hardly be able to get away from the three fun water adventure playgrounds on hot days.
The raft pond is particularly popular with children. Here you can raft right across the lake. There is no need to be afraid, the pond is about 70cm deep. Smaller children should of course wear water wings. You can splash around carefree at the cone spray station or at the water playground, the floor is well covered with rubber mats - here young guests can experience hours of water fun at any age. Don't forget to bring your swimsuit!
Bucklbahn
This roller coaster is visible from the parking lot. Children aged three and over and 90cm tall can ride it. You go three laps per queue. Tip: pay attention to the signs: it only moves slowly, so you could easily end up waiting in line for half an hour or more. But it's always fun, whether you're young or old!
Milk shaker
New in the adventure park: The “Milkshaker”, a free fall tower over 10 meters high, controlled by the mascot cow Rubi. An adrenaline rush for ages 3 and up!
Bouncing pad
2 huge bouncy cushions invite you to bounce, and you can climb up onto another one. Very nice in theory, but the lack of shade means that the plastic gets very hot in the summer and you are not allowed to go up there with shoes on...
Slide tower
On the breathtaking giant slide, you whizz down 35 meters from the tower with jute sacks. There are a few steps to climb before you get to it, but the descent is a real pleasure and well worth it!
Marble tracks
Grab a wooden ball (take it with you or buy it for 2 euros). There are three ball tracks where you can either try your luck alone or compete in a ball race with your friends. We find it a bit impractical that the ball often falls off the track and then rolls down the hill next to the track...
Suitable for all ages.
Skill games: throwing ice cream balls or “On your marks, get set, go”
Here you can throw axes or balls into a basket or hole and show how skilled you are.
Of course, there are also various children's playgrounds with swings, slides, sandpits, maypole carousels and more. There are also a few goats, sheep and rabbits
Gastronomy in the adventure park
At the snack stand and in the Shake Barn you will really only find small things like frankfurters, schnitzel sandwiches, fries, mozzarella sticks and the like. Of course there is also plenty of delicious ice cream. If you want a table and a chair, you have to go to RestaurantThe restaurant is located outside the theme park, but you can get back in with a stamp.
If you want to have a table at lunch, you must reserve at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise you will probably have no chance.
Ice time travel
This is a virtual tour through ice history and the Eis-Greissler production. Admission is extra and costs about 12.9€ for children and 15.9€ for adults. Here you can find all prices.
This tour lasts 1 hour, covers three stops and offers a fascinating experience:
- The Travel on the Eis-Greissler Express: Take a journey back in time and transport yourself thousands of years back to the Ice Age in Krumbach. You sit in the train and receive interesting and funny information about the ice production. You will be shaken around a bit on the "journey".
- The spectacular flying theater: Fly virtually through the ice cream production and experience first hand how the delicious ice cream flavors are made. This 5D cinema can be experienced with all of the senses. Children are particularly amazed here.
- The Ice cream testing laboratory: Here you can try 3 of the newest flavors.
Our conclusion from the Eis-Greissler adventure park
Overall, we found the visit very entertaining. It is exciting for children between 3 and around 13 years old. The highlight for us is the water world, especially on hot days. Speaking of hot. Unfortunately, there is one big downside here, namely the shade. Even if they try to remedy this with fitted sheets, there is clearly not enough shade in the park and the trees are simply too small. Make sure you take plenty of sunscreen and hats with you!
It was simply too hot for some of the attractions. However, the ice cream tastes great and they clearly make an effort to entertain the youngest guests. You certainly won't get bored.
The ice journey through time was very nice for a one-time visit, but to be honest it was a bit overpriced. If you've seen it once, that's enough.
But we will definitely come back to the theme park.
