In summer, the Ifen scores with hikers with its panoramic laps, challenging hikes and wonderful views. Spectacular rocks and the impressive Gottesacker plateau make the Ifen a fascinating natural magic of stone. In winter, the 10-seater Ifen I and II gondola lifts bring skiers to skiing fun on around 25 kilometers of slopes.
We park right next to the Auenhütte and now want to take the mountain railway up to the Ifen. Here, too, the day ticket costs €5, just like the Walmendingerhornbahn. With the “Allgäu Walser Card” the ride is free again.
We take the gondola up to the mountain station. The ride on the train, built in 2017, takes only 7 minutes. Numerous hiking routes lead away from here. It takes about 2 hours to walk up the Ifen, but it’s too hot for us today.
We opt for the short panorama trail, which also starts behind the Ifenhütte. The Panoramaweg leads relatively flat along the meadow and has hardly any altitude difference.
After about 15 minutes the hike comes to an end. You can’t go any further from here. However, you have an incredibly beautiful view of the valley and the Ifen and the ski area.
The same way back to the hut. There we can have a beer on the sun terrace. There is also a varied children’s playground for children.
At the valley station we want to go to the Herzsee, a real insider tip and a recommendation from us!
