Kaiserklamm Gorge

• Where is the Kaiserklamm Gorge? It is located in the Brandenbergtal a little further from the Kaiserhaus, address 6234 Brandenberg
• How long does the hike through the Kaiserklamm take and how challenging is it? From the Kaiserhaus to the end of the gorge it is about 1 km and a 30-minute walk. Return either through the gorge or via a forest path. The hike is easy - sturdy shoes with a good tread are recommended as the stones can be slippery.
• Are there entrance fees? The gorge is free, parking costs 3€ for up to 6 hours, full day 5€
• Opening hours? 03.2023 – 31.10.2023. Closed only in winter and in heavy rain.
• How much time should I allow? 3 hours
• Is the hike possible with children? Yes, safety belts for children to hike through the gorge are available free of charge at the Gasthaus Kaiserhaus or at Sport Ossi in Kramsach (deposit € 20.00)
• Is the gorge suitable for strollers? No, you cannot get through the gorge with a stroller or a bicycle.

General

The Kaiserklamm is a gorge in the Brandenberg Alps in Tyrol. It belongs to the Alpbachtal holiday regionIt is about 1.2 kilometers long and up to 50 meters deep. The gorge is known for its steep rock faces, roaring waterfalls and dense forests.

The path through the gorge

As soon as you reach the Kaiserklamm car park, a 300-metre-long forest path leads to the entrance of the gorge. Here you can already hear the soothing sound of the turquoise-green water of the Brandenberger Ache. The narrow path then leads you for about a kilometre through the narrow rocky gorge of the Kaiserklamm.

The further you go into the Kaiserklamm, the more captivating and varied the route becomes. The impressive power of the water can be particularly felt and experienced here. Due to the humid climate between the steeply sloping rocks, the well-secured path can be a bit slippery. It is therefore important to wear good hiking shoes and stay alert.

After this section, the path becomes more pleasant, the river becomes wider and the landscape becomes gentler. Here you will find many beautiful places to spend a relaxing time in the midst of the diverse nature. You have the opportunity to dangle your feet in the cool water of the Brandenberger Ache or have a little picnic.

Stop off

Of course, after visiting the gorge, you can stop off at the Imperial House which is located in the immediate vicinity of the car park. Both Emperor Franz Josef II and his wife Empress Elisabeth visited the gorge and spent the night in the Kaiserhaus, which gave the gorge its name "Kaiserklamm". The Kaiserklamm guest house also has a spacious adventure playground with a petting zoo, trampoline and low ropes course, which is a lot of fun for children.

Tip: Here you should try the famous “Brandenberger Beating Cake” You should definitely try it. But don't worry, nobody will be beaten up here. It's a kind of tree cake that is baked over an open fire. A real treat!
