This particularly suitable excursion destination for children is located above Strobl on Lake Wolfgang. There are around 100 parking spaces in the area. The fun begins right next to it.
Children can buy feed (corn kernels) at the vending machine and then feed about 15 goats and 10 rabbits in the petting zoo. All animals are in a walk-in enclosure. But sometimes it also happens that the animals escape and then run around in the open air.
In the wildlife park you will encounter red, ibex and fallow deer, ibex and wild boar. About 250 animals live in an area of 250,000 m². Sometimes the landlord even comes out onto the terrace with tame animals so that everyone can experience the animals up close.
A visit in autumn is particularly worth experiencing when the deer rut begins every year at the beginning of September. The mating season of the stags is initiated by the strong “reporting” of the strongest. The weaker stags stand aside and often have to flee. There are usually only rank fights between 2 equally strong stags for the favor of the female. The strongest stag wins and then guards his herd (up to 40 female animals) and takes care of the offspring.
We can also recommend the bee trail: the tour takes about 1 hour and is suitable for prams.
If you want, you can strengthen yourself at the end (or beginning) in the Gasthof Kleefeld. By the way, the specialty of the inn are game dishes. You should withhold that from your children 😉
