Lammerklamm: A nature experience in the Salzburg region

- How do I get there? By car you can reach the Lammerklamm via the A10 Tauern motorway, exit Golling. By public transport: Take the bus number 470 to the “Lammeröfen” bus stop.
- Where can I park? A large parking lot is available directly at the entrance to the gorge.
- How much time should I allow? Plan to spend just over an hour on your visit.
- Is it interesting for children? Yes, the gorge is an exciting nature experience for the whole family, but children should be well supervised.
- Is there an entrance fee? Yes, there is an entrance fee. Adults pay around 9 euros, children under 5 are free. Here you can find all prices.
- When is it open? Open daily from the beginning of April to the end of October: April, May and October from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; June and September from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; July and August from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The history of the Lammerklamm
The Lammerklamm was formed over thousands of years by the erosive power of water. The river Lammer has dug deep into the rock and left behind an impressive gorge landscape. The gorge was opened up to tourism in the 19th century and is now a protected natural monument. It offers visitors the opportunity to experience the raw power of nature up close and marvel at the geological formations.
The path through the Lammerklamm
The well-developed hiking trail leads along the steep rock faces and offers breathtaking views of the roaring waterfalls and narrow rocky gorges. Secure footbridges and bridges enable a safe and exciting path through the gorge. There are numerous viewpoints along the way from which you can enjoy the impressive landscape.
At the ticket office you can first go right into the most beautiful part of the gorge, the “Dark Gorge”Here you are surrounded by steep rock walls. You walk for about 5 minutes to the end before returning the same way to the ticket office.
From there, turn left to the longer part of the hike. You can also walk this route there and back, or you can just go in one direction to the Lammerklause country inn. You can be picked up by car or returned by bus.
We decided to do the round trip. Including the Dark Gorge, it takes about an hour.
Safety information
It is important to wear good footwear as the path can be steep and slippery in places. However, the path is very well secured. Children should be well supervised and dogs must be kept on a lead. The gorge may be closed in heavy rain or flooding, so it is advisable to check the weather conditions beforehand.
