The Lobau is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful recreational areas in ViennaIt is one of 6 national parks in Austria and is one of the last intact floodplain areas in Europe. It covers 2,300 hectares and makes up almost a quarter of the total area of the Danube-Auen National Park out of.
A trip is especially worthwhile for Bird watchers and animal lovers: More than 800 plants, 30 mammal and 100 breeding bird species, 8 reptile and 13 amphibian species and 60 fish species are native here. Among them are beavers, water shrews, marsh shrews, brown rats, sea eagles and kingfishers, hares, deer, stags and wild boars
Throughout the Lobau there is a well-developed signposted Hiking and cycling trail network, which is suitable for the whole family. It is even a great place to walk with a stroller. Maps and information can be obtained from the information booth by the car park at Dechantweg 10.

- Upper Lobau nature trail (5 km, 2-3 hours, the path leads over hot lands and along quiet oxbow lakes)
- Forester's House Circular Trail (6 km, 2 hours, circular walk over mostly open areas of the Upper Lobau)
- Panozzalacke circular route (5 km, 1 hour, several avenues and meadows of the Lobau are crossed here)
- Napoleon Circuit (10 km, 3 hours, some memorial stones to the battle against Napoleon are located along the route)
- Lower Lobau – circular route (8 km, 2-3 hours, several-hour hike into the idyllic Lower Lobau)
By the way, in the Lobau there are also 4 bathing areas. It must be said that these are famous for their nudist-loving bathers
