Riezlern is one of three villages in the Kleinwalsertal in Vorarlberg. Riezlern, located at the beginning of the valley, is the largest town in the Kleinwalsertal with its districts Wald, Schwende, Unterwestegg and Egg. The Walsertal covers an area of 97 km². It is about 15 km long and about 6.5 km wide. A total of 5,000 people live in the Kleinwalsertal. Riezlern is located at an altitude of 1,089 meters,
What makes this Austrian valley so special is that it can only be reached by car via Germany. To get to the "rest" of Austria, you either have to hike or take a 45km car journey.
For this reason, even before the introduction of the euro, only D-Mark was used in Kleinwalsertal.
