Brief information:
- Where is the Schwarzsee? About 2 km west of Kitzbühel on the Brixental road. The lake is easily accessible via the Salzburg-Tyrolean railway stop.
- Can you swim in it? Yes, it is actually one of the warmest lakes in Tyrol. It has an average temperature of 23°
- How big is the lake? 8 ha large and 7m deep
- When is it open? Season: June – Aug. daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Does it cost admission? Yes, for the pool yes, otherwise it is freely accessible.
- Is it also accessible in winter? In winter, the Schwarzsee is usually frozen over and is therefore ideal for ice skating, playing ice hockey and curling.
With a summer temperature of up to 27 degrees, the Schwarzsee is the warmest moor lake in Tyrol and therefore a particularly popular bathing lake. No wonder, it is only 7m deep. When we arrive at the end of June, however, it is only a cool 19°. Nevertheless, we are immediately impressed by the beautiful lake, as it is nestled among other things by the Kaiser Mountains.
Don't be fooled by the name, because the lake is of course not black, but rather shimmers emerald green. There is a public beach here and right next to it you can also rent boats, pedal boats and SUP. Here you will find the pricelist.
Lake tour:
We can especially recommend the lake circuit, which can even be done with a stroller. It takes a good half an hour to walk around the lake.
We start at the cafeteria at the lido and turn right onto a narrow path. It goes uphill at first, but only for a short distance. Soon you reach the forest on the lake shore, where you can already see the first wonderful views. It is also pleasantly cool in the forest. We walk the circular path anti-clockwise. There are always inviting bays where people lie, completely free of charge of course. Park benches invite you to slow down. The path is concrete and leads almost exclusively along the water. Apart from the construction site of a hotel that is being built here, the walk is simply perfect. We can only hope that the hotel will blend in with the landscape once it is finished. In any case, we really enjoyed our walk around the lake.
