The Seebensee is a very popular excursion destination in the Tyrolean community of Ehrwald. The idyllic hiking route is particularly suitable for families. Starting from the mountain station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn, you hike 500 meters uphill with a relatively easy ascent to the Seebensee. The high mountain lake, which is embedded between the front Tajakopf in the east and the front Drachenkopf, is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol and invites you to pause and refresh. There is a wonderful view of deep blue-turquoise water and nature can be fully enjoyed. The view from here over the lake with the Zugspitze massif, whose mighty rock massif is reflected in the lake, is uniquely beautiful.
Walking time approx: 1.5-2 hours. The shores of the Seebensee are often very crowded during the day, as the lake is becoming increasingly popular in times of Instagram.
Tip: From the Seebensee there is the option of continuing up to the Coburger Hütte in around 40 minutes on foot. Below the hut is another beautiful mountain lake: the Drachensee. It goes back the same way.
