This beautiful gorge is a must see when in the area. In the summer months you can even visit the gorge every Friday in the evening from around 8:30 p.m. You can find the exact times on the homepage. Because it was so beautiful, we looked at it day and night.
During the day: when we arrived there was no one there, so we went straight to the ticket office. With the Zell am See or Kaprun Card, entry is free again! Savings: around ten euros.
Night: the parking lot was already full when I arrived. I climbed to the gorge and can hardly believe it: a 200m long queue is revealed to me. The ticket for the special night tour costs ten euros. There are no reductions with the Kaprun Card here. It was 25 minutes before I finally received my ticket. It takes just as long to go through the gorge.
The gorge
You walk along the gorge on wooden walkways that are beautifully embedded in nature. The sight is simply breathtaking, the roar of the water is deafening. Just stop and enjoy the violence of nature. (In the evening you’re stuck in a traffic jam anyway)
After about 20 minutes you have reached the end of the gorge and go through an iron gate to the exit.
If you want, you can also visit the Klammsee during the day, which is located directly above the waterfall. On nice summer days it offers a pleasant change.
