General
The Bad Schallerbach thermal spa includes the Aquapulco also the area Tropicana. The two areas offer different worlds of experience for visitors.
The Aquapulco is an action-packed paradise for water rats of all ages. With more than 200 interactive water play equipment, 9 exciting slides and a large outdoor area, thrills and fun are guaranteed here. The pirate world in particular attracts little adventurers who can feel like real pirates and explore the imaginatively designed water attractions.
In contrast to this the Tropicana a place of relaxation and well-being. Everything here revolves around wellness and relaxation. Thermal pools, saunas, steam baths and quiet zones invite you to let your body and mind come to rest.
The fun doesn't come cheap. 2 adults with a child can easily pay over €100/day if you want to treat yourself to both areas (they are only separated by turnstiles). We particularly recommend this in winter, as there are virtually no sunbathing areas in the Aquapulco apart from the outdoor area.
Aquapulco Pirate World at the Bad Schallerbach thermal spa
One of the main attractions are the impressive slides, which promise pure adrenaline. From rapid descents on the Black Mamba to thrilling rides in the X-Tube, thrills are guaranteed. But younger visitors are not neglected either. They can splash around in the shallow children's pools, discover water games and let off steam on child-friendly slides.
Pools and relaxation
In addition to the action-packed attractions, the Aquapulco also offers a variety of pools and relaxation areas. The wave pool promises pure bathing fun when you let yourself drift in the artificially generated waves once an hour. And when the weather is nice, the outdoor pool offers pleasant refreshment and sunbathing.
Highlights of the pirate world
Here, children can immerse themselves in a fascinating world characterised by pirate ships, water fountains and slides. The imaginatively designed environment invites children to discover and play. The adventure trail is a 100 metre-long high-altitude circuit high above the pirate bay! Kids can let off steam here, climb and explore interactive water play equipment such as water cannons, pumps, water wheels and splash attractions.
The slides
There are 5 slides with different levels of difficulty in the Pirate World: Kamikaze, Snaky, The Kraken, Black Jack and Canyon.
Unfortunately, all 5 slides leave from the same platform, which is why there can sometimes be traffic jams here, especially at weekends and on public holidays.
We liked the octopus the best, where you go through the tentacles of the octopus in double tyres. However, please don't keep the tyres, but hand them over to the next person in line at the finish
But tastes are known to differ, which is why there is something for everyone.
Outdoor
If the 5 indoor slides are not enough for you, there are 4 more slides and 200 interactive water play equipment in the outdoor area!
One of the highlights of the leisure pool is undoubtedly the impressive pirate's head, which holds an impressive 3,000 litres of water. Every minute, a spectacular "splash experience" takes place, with the contents of the pirate's head pouring over the entire facility. This impressive spectacle never ceases to amaze visitors and creates a thrilling atmosphere full of water fun and adventure. There are plenty of loungers to relax on in the spacious lawn area.
Baby area
Of course, the very youngest children were also catered for.
Here you enter an island surrounded by palm trees with crawling and climbing attractions. Babies can let off steam in small streams, experience their first slides and explore the water play equipment. The Aquapulco also offers separate mother and child areas equipped with breastfeeding booths, changing tables and a baby galley.
Tropicana
For those looking for relaxation and regeneration, the Tropicana in the thermal spa is the perfect place. Various saunas and steam baths offer the opportunity to relax body and mind and recharge your batteries. You can relax in the quiet areas and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere.
While you unwind in the relaxing ambience of Therme Tropicana, only an airy, 14 metre high and 1,000 square metre conservatory separates you from the palm beach with the picturesque thermal lagoon. When the sun is shining and the outside temperatures are pleasant, the roof is even opened to give you an even more intense holiday feeling.
What is there to experience at Tropicana?
- Thermal lagoon 35 °C
- Colorama pool 34 °C
- Panorama pool 34 °C & whirlpool 36 °C
- Sulphur grotto 38 °C
- Saltwater bath 36 °C
- Iodine-selenium health bath 36 °C
- The coral grotto in the South Sea Spa, with a 2.6 metre wide and 6 metre high 20,000 litre aquarium
For an extra dose of relaxation, there are whirlpools and bubble loungers that pamper tired muscles and invite you to switch off.
Gastronomy and catering at the Bad Schallerbach thermal spa
The Aquapulco and Tropicana also offer a variety of catering facilities where visitors can fortify themselves. From snacks and light meals to refreshing drinks and ice cream, there is something to suit every taste. Considering the entrance fee, we found food and drinks surprisingly affordable.
Conclusion
To summarise, the Aquapulco and Tropicana at the Bad Schallerbach thermal spa offer a varied and diverse experience for every visitor, although the facilities are a little outdated. While the Aquapulco promises water fun and adventure with its action-packed water attractions, exciting slides and the exciting pirate world, the Tropicana invites you to relax and unwind with its relaxed atmosphere, saunas and palm beach.
The bitter aftertaste is that you have to dig deep into your pockets. As a family, you should definitely expect to spend €100-200 for a day. Quite expensive fun, which unfortunately you can't indulge in too often.
