With a fall height of 54 meters, the Wildenstein waterfall is one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe.
The waterfall is not far from the village of Gallizien. A road leads to a gravel and partially paved parking lot. From there you walk in about 20 minutes on a steep and partly gravel or stony forest path until you reach the waterfall. Once there, there is a small platform about 30 meters from the fall.
Because of the danger of falling rocks, it is actually forbidden to enter the area. A fence should prevent people from going any further here.
However, we did not know this when we arrived and since there was no sign pointing this out, we went straight to the waterfall.
We do not want to recommend that at this point. Nevertheless, it should be mentioned that this waterfall offers the rare opportunity to view it from behind.
