The Christmas markets in Vienna 2025: A feast for the senses

Schönbrunn Palace Cultural and Christmas Market
The Culture & Christmas Market before the Schönbrunn Castle presents itself in 2025 with 99 market stalls (32 food stalls). In addition to high-quality handicrafts and regional specialties, new attractions provide variety: An innovative Artificial ice rink and four curling lanes, a nostalgic carousel, a Ferris Wheel and a Craft hut („wooden circus“) for children. Also new are a Music program, the Lindt Experience World „Golden Christmas“ and a faithful replica of the world's largest nativity scene.

Christmas market at Rathausplatz
The Christmas market at Rathausplatz It is one of Vienna's largest and most famous Christmas markets. In 2025, they will be held again. 96 market stalls, including 21 food stalls. In the new children's hut, the little ones can make Christmas tree decorations, decorate candles, and write letters to the Christ Child. The Old Viennese Christmas Market The market on Freyung offers a contemplative alternative to the large markets. 57 stalls (15 food and beverage stands) and is characterized by traditional Christmas decorations, nativity figures and handicrafts. One highlight is the 46 m long nativity scene based on a painting by Josef Ritter von Führich. Next door is a farmers market with regional organic products.

Christmas Market at Am Hof
The Christmas Market at Am Hof offers 76 stalls (20 food and beverage stands). In addition to the traditional market, the Arts and crafts market One: around 20 huts function as small shops where artists offer high-quality glassware, woodwork, and jewelry. Culinary offerings range from langos, bacon, and gingerbread to raclette, Kaiserschmarren, and Tyrolean delicacies.

Christmas village at Stephansplatz
Located in the heart of Vienna, around St. Stephen's Cathedral, is the Christmas village at Stephansplatz. The 43 stalls (10 food and beverage stands) They offer handcrafted decorations and culinary specialties such as Italian truffles, pesto, gingerbread, cheese dumplings, and Styrian schnapps. The wooden stalls nestle against the cathedral walls, creating a medieval atmosphere.

Art Advent in front of the Karlskirche
The Art Advent at Karlsplatz (also known as Art Advent) emphasizes originality. 83 stalls (12 food vendors) They offer exclusively products made by the exhibitors themselves. Thanks to the strict jury selection, you'll find unique works of art, clothing, ceramics, jewelry, and high-quality delicacies. The food is certified organic and offers regional specialties such as Kiachl (a type of fried pastry), Blunzengröstl (a blood sausage hash), and buckwheat pancakes. There's also something for children. Straw landscape, animals, workshops and a carousel made from recycled materials.

Christmas village on Maria-Theresien-Platz
The market between Art- and Natural History Museum finds not in 2025According to official information, the Christmas village at Maria-Theresien-Platz Due to construction work at the museum entrances, the market has been cancelled. In previous years, it offered around 70 stalls with arts and crafts and specialties – it is scheduled to return after the work is completed. Other markets will be available as alternatives in 2025.
Christmas Village at the Old General Hospital (University of Vienna Campus)
The Christmas village at the university campus/Old AKH It feels like a small village idyll in the courtyard of the former hospital. Approximately 44 stalls (12 food vendors) They invite you to stroll around. The quiet, park-like grounds attract mainly locals. The Altes AKH is unbeatable when it comes to food: from Austrian street food to regional specialties from the federal states, there is a huge selection. Christmas market at Spittelberg
The Spittelberg Market It is considered to be the city's largest Christmas market in 2025. 122 stalls (22 food vendors). It stretches through the narrow lanes and courtyards of the Biedermeier quarter and combines arts and crafts, galleries, and bars. The market stalls are part of an "eco-event" focusing on regional, sustainable, and fair-trade products. The culinary offerings range from classic Austrian delicacies to international street food such as raclette, arancini, pierogi, and even fish and chips.

Christmas market in Türkenschanzpark
The Christmas market in Türkenschanzpark is a hidden gem in the 18th district. It features 21 stalls (7 food vendors). The stalls are grouped around the Turkish fountain and offer culinary and handcrafted products – including Glassblowers, jewelry makers and other artisans. There is a program for children on weekends. Craft workshop.
