The Spieljoch, located in the beautiful Zillertal in Tyrol, is often called the “adventure mountain”. We wanted to test for you whether the mountain rightly boasts of this attribute.
How do you get there?
The Spieljoch is a 1,920 meter high mountain, right at the entrance to the Zillertal, above Fügen. You can get to the mountain with the Spieljochbahn from Fügen. You can find the exact operating times in summer HERE and HERE you can find the rates.
What can you experience on top?
The fun for the whole family begins right at the mountain station at 1,858m. There are numerous hiking trails with wonderful views of the Zillertal Alps.
The adventure opportunities for families are particularly exciting. The Spieljoch offers the following attractions:
Kristallpark – NEW since July 2021
This highlight was only recently completed. At the entrance you are greeted by the mascot Knappi. The crystal park brings visitors closer to the world of mining on the Spieljoch. Hundreds of years ago the Spieljoch was still a center of mining, where ores, quartz and even precious metals were mined. This story is told playfully in an underground 3D tunnel labyrinth. For the younger visitors there is also a miners’ course and a large sand playground, where they can dig for iron ore and hidden treasures themselves.
In the stamp mill, on the other hand, they can smash boulders in search of ore as they please.
Play lake and tubing track – NEW since July 2021
Also new this summer is a more than 1,000 m² play lake with boats. There is also a 140m long tubing track that promises sliding fun for the whole family.
Water play park
This children’s paradise is right next to the mountain station. Here the little ones can splash around as they please, be it on a play raft or the water staircase. In addition, there are also wooden bowls to hold water and water sprays.
Barefoot path
This starts right next to the water park. Here you can walk barefoot to the summit cross at 1,920m. The path leads over different surfaces that you rarely get to feel. Incidentally, from above you have a wonderful view of the Zillertal, the Karwendel and the Wilder Kaiser.
Skill ropes course
Der ist nichts für schwache Nerven, weder für Eltern noch für Kinder 😉 Der Startplatz ist nur ca. 5 Gehminuten über der Bergstation.
Equipped with a climbing harness and helmet (you can borrow it there) you can use swinging ropes and swings a few meters above the ground.. There are 10 stations to master here.
Do you think that’s not enough thrill? Well then, dare to go on the Flying Fox!
Flying Fox
With this zip line you fly 300 meters through a breathtaking panorama and whiz over the Grubach valley. But don’t worry, nothing can happen. And if it’s going too fast, the security staff is always there to help.
MountainCart & Monster Scooter Tour
Over a 6.5km long route you can jet with a guide either with the mountain cart (in pairs) or with the monster scooters (alone) to the middle station .. If that’s not enough, you can even race to the valley station. It starts daily from 11 a.m.
Children’s climbing garden with a family via ferrata
Here the little ones learn from the professionals how to properly grip and climb rocks. There are routes with all levels of difficulty, so that nobody is guaranteed to get bored. The equipment can of course be borrowed on site.
Nepal bridge
But that’s not enough. Up here there is also the Nepal Bridge. At a three-rope span it goes over the “Kaunz” on the Spieljoch. Safety also plays a major role here, of course, as you are equipped with a climbing harness, helmet and climbing set.
If you want to test your skills further, there is a balance, climbing and even slackline course right on the reservoir.
Wem das alles zu viel ist, kann sich auch einfach in die Relax Area verdrücken und sich die Sonne auf den Bauch scheinen lassen 😉 Jedenfalls ist unserer Meinung nach am Spieljoch für Jeden etwas dabei!
