Spieljoch in Zillertal: Family paradise and hiking destination
The Spieljoch in the Zillertal is a versatile destination for families and active holidaymakers. The cable car takes you comfortably to the summit, where numerous child-friendly hiking trails and exciting experiences such as a water play park and climbing areas await. The family-friendly gourmet circular trail, which offers wonderful views of the Zillertal, is particularly popular. In winter, the Spieljoch turns into a popular ski area, ideal for beginners and families.
How do you get there?
The Spieljoch is a 1,920 meter high mountain, right at the entrance to the Zillertal, above Fügen. You can reach the mountain with the Spieljochbahn from Fügen. The exact You can find the opening times in summer HERE and HERE you can find the rates.
What can you experience up there?
The fun for the whole family starts right at the mountain station at 1,858 m. Here you will find numerous hiking trails with wonderful views of the Zillertal Alps.
But what is particularly exciting are the adventure opportunitiesn for families. The Spieljoch offers the following attractions
Crystal Park
This highlight was only recently completed. At the entrance you are immediately greeted by mascot Knappi The Crystal Park brings visitors closer to the world of mining at Spieljoch. Hundreds of years ago, Spieljoch was still a center of mining, where ores, quartz and even precious metals were dismantled.
This story is told in a playful way in an underground 3D tunnel labyrinth. For the younger visitors there is also a Knappen-Parcours and a large sand playgroundwhere they can dig for iron ore and hidden treasures themselves.
In the stamping mill On the other hand, they are allowed to smash rocks as they please in search of ore.
play lake and tubing track
Also new since this summer is a more than 1,000m² larger play lake with boatsThere is also a 140m long tubing track, which promises sliding fun for the whole family.
water play park
This children's paradise is located right next to the mountain station. Here the little ones can splash around to their heart's content, whether on a play raft or the water stairs. There are also wooden bowls for collecting water and water sprayers.
barefoot path
This starts right next to the water park. Here you can Barefoot to the summit cross at 1,920 m The path leads over different surfaces that you rarely experience. From the top you have a wonderful view of the Zillertal, the Karwendel and the Wilder Kaiser.
skill rope course
It is not for the faint of heart, neither for parents nor for children 😉 The starting point is only about a 5-minute walk above the mountain station.
Equipped with a climbing harness and helmet (which you can borrow there), you can continue your skill-rope climbing a few meters above the ground over swinging ropes and swings. There are 10 stations to master here.
You think that's not thrill enough? Then try the Flying Fox!
Flying Fox
With this zip line you fly 300 meters through breathtaking panorama and whizzes over the Grubach Valley. But don't worry, nothing can happen. And if it's too fast, the security staff is always on hand.

Here, the little ones learn from the professionals how to grip and climb the rocks properly. There are routes of all levels of difficulty, so no one will get bored. Equipment can of course be rented on site.
Mountain cart & monster scooter tour
About a 6.5km long route You can go with a guide to the middle station either in a mountain cart (two people) or on a monster scooter (alone). If that's not enough for you, you can even race to the valley station. It starts every day at 11:00 a.m.
Nepal Bridge
But that is not enough. Up here there is also the Nepal Bridge. A three-rope spanning system takes you over the “Kaunz” at Spieljoch. Safety naturally plays a major role here too, and you are equipped with a climbing harness, helmet and climbing set.
If you want to test your skills further, we offer balance, climbing and even a slackline parkour directly at the reservoir variety.
