Tyrol: The Spieljoch in the Zillertal

The Spieljoch, located in the beautiful Zillertal in Tyrol, is also known as the "Adventure mountain" called. We wanted to test for you whether the mountain can rightly boast this attribute.

How do you get there?

The Spieljoch is a 1,920 metre high mountain, right at the entrance to the Zillertal, above Fügen. You can reach the mountain with the Spieljochbahn cable car from Fügen. The exact Operating hours in summer can be found HERE and HERE you can find the tariffs.

What can you experience at the top?

The fun for the whole family starts right at the mountain station at 1,858 metres. Here you will find Numerous hiking trails with marvellous views of the Zillertal Alps.

Particularly exciting, however, are the Experience possibilitiesn for families. The Spieljoch offers the following attractions:

Crystal Park - NEW since July 2021

This highlight was only recently completed. At the entrance you are immediately Mascot Knappi welcomes you. The Crystal Park brings visitors closer to the world of mining on the Spieljoch. Hundreds of years ago, the Spieljoch was still a Mining centrewhere ores, quartz and even Precious metals were dismantled.
This story is told in a 3D underground labyrinth of tunnels. For the younger visitors there is also a Miners' course and a large Sand playgroundwhere they can dig for iron ore and hidden treasures themselves.

In the Pochwerk they are allowed to smash rocks to their heart's content in search of ore.

Play lake and tubing track- NEW since July 2021

Also new since this summer is an over 1,000m² largePlay lake with boats. There is also a 140 metre long tubing track that promises sliding fun for the whole family.

Water play park

This children's paradise is located right next to the mountain station. Here the little ones can splash around to their heart's content, be it on a play raft or the water stairs. There are also wooden bowls for water storage and water sprays.

Barefoot path

This starts right next to the water play park. Here you can Barefoot to the summit cross at 1,920m walk. The trail leads over different surfaces that you rarely get to experience. Incidentally, from the top you have a wonderful view of the Zillertal, the Karwendel and the Wilder Kaiser.

Skilful ropes course

It's not for the faint-hearted, neither for parents nor for children 😉 The launch site is just a 5-minute walk above the mountain station.

Equipped with a climbing harness and helmet (you can borrow one there), you continue on the skill rope course a few metres above the ground over swinging ropes and swings. There are 10 stations to master here.

Don't think that's thrilling enough? Then try the Flying Fox!

Flying Fox

With this zip-line you can fly through the air. 300 metres through a breathtaking panorama and whizzes over the Grubach valley. But don't worry, nothing can happen. And if you go too fast, the safety staff are always on hand.

MountainCart & Monster Scooter Tour

About a 6.5km long route you can either take a mountain cart (in pairs) or a monster scooter (alone) to the middle station with a guide. If that's not enough, you can even race down to the valley station. It starts daily from 11:00 am.

Children's climbing garden with a family via ferrata

Here, the little ones learn from the pros how to properly grip and climb rocks. There are routes for all levels of difficulty, so no-one is guaranteed to get bored. Equipment can of course be hired on site.

Nepal bridge

But that's not all. Up here there is also the Nepal Bridge. A three-rope span takes you over the "Kaunz" on the Spieljoch. Safety plays a major role here too, of course, as you are equipped with a climbing harness, helmet and climbing set.

For those who want to test their skills further, there is a Balance, climbing and even a slackline parkour directly at the reservoir.

If all this is too much for you, you can also simply Relax Area and let the sun shine on your belly 😉 In any case, in our opinion there is something for everyone on the Spieljoch!
