tour description
After we started with the Bergkastelbahn from the valley to mountain station (2,175 m) We have arrived at the actual starting point for this mountain tour. We immediately follow the yellow signpost towards Goldseen – the ascent is 2:00 h signpostedIf you follow the yellow signposts and the markings on the stones, you can't miss the way to the tour destination.
The ascent is a mixture of boulders and a normal hiking trail, which takes us ever closer to the tour destination. Despite the short length of the path, the path over the boulders and scree can seem a bit more strenuous. We hike through a beautiful, natural landscape to the two mountain lakes. After about 45 minutes of walking, we were lucky because we noticed a marmot due to an animal whistle, which we were then able to photograph straight away 🤩.
After taking photos, we walk uphill for about 15 minutes until we reach the first of the two golden lakes. We are amazed at the sight of this bright blue lake and of course we capture these moments with our cameras.
We go on first gold lake and follow the hiking trail until we reach the second Goldsee This one shows a completely different side in terms of color, as it has a light green (in sunlight) to dark green color. From this mountain lake you also have a great view of the 300 m higher Bergkastelspitze (2,912 m).
❕Our tip❕ Instead of taking a break directly at the Goldsee, we recommend climbing a few more meters so that you can admire both Goldsees at the same time 😲.
🔙 On the way back we take the same route as on the way up.
tour conditions
We took one of the first cable cars to the top station early, which is why we were almost alone at the Goldseen. The weather was sunny on the day of the tour and therefore perfect for two mountain lakes with their most beautiful colors to be able to see.
Conclusion
For lake lovers the perfect mountain tour! Such a combination with two such exceptional mountain lakes is not found very often in the mountains. The two mountain lakes are easily accessible and the tour can be continued at any time around one or the other peak [eg: Bergkastelspitze (2,912 m), Mataunkopf (2,895 m)] expandable.
