Tour description:
After we took the Bergkastelbahn from the valley to the mountain station (2,175 m), we arrived at the actual starting point for this mountain tour. We immediately followed the yellow signpost towards Goldseen (translates: Gold lakes) – the ascent is signposted there at 2:00 hours. If you follow the yellow signs and the markings on the stones on the ground, you cannot miss the route to the tour destination.
Der Aufstiegsweg ist eine Mischung aus Blockwerk und normalem Wanderweg, welcher uns immer näher zu dem Tourenziel führt. Trotz der kurzen Weglänge kann einem der Weg über die Felsbrocken und das Geröll etwas anstrengender vorkommen. Wir wandern durch eine traumhafte, naturbelassene Landschaft zu den beiden Bergseen. Nach ca. 45 min. Gehzeit hatten wir Glück, denn wir sind durch ein tierisches Pfeifen auf ein Murmele aufmerksam geworden, welches wir dann auch gleich fotografieren konnten 🤩.
After taking the photos, we went uphill for about 15 minutes until we reached the first of the two gold lakes. At the sight of this sparkling blue lake we are amazed and of course captured these moments with our camera.
We walked along the first Goldsee and followed the hiking trail until we came to the second Goldsee after about 5 – 10 minutes. In terms of color, this one shows a completely different side, as it is light green (when exposed to sunlight) to dark green in color. From this mountain lake you also have a great view of the Bergkastelspitze (2,912 m), which is about 300 m higher.
❕Unser Tipp❕ Anstatt direkt am Goldsee eine Rast zu machen, empfehlen wir euch noch ein paar Höhenmeter mehr aufzusteigen, sodass ihr beide Goldseen gleichzeitig bestaunen könnt 😲.

Tour conditions:
We took one of the first cable cars to the mountain station early on, which is why we were almost alone at the Goldseen. The weather on the day of the tour was sunny and therefore perfect to see the two mountain lakes in their most beautiful colors.
Conclusion:
The perfect mountain tour for lake lovers! Such a combination with two such extraordinary mountain lakes is not often found in the mountains. The two mountain lakes are easily accessible and the tour can be extended to include one or the other summit at any time [e.g .: Bergkastelspitze (2,912 m), Mataunkopf (2,895 m)].
