Natural beauty on the Astberg: the enchanting Astbergsee lake
The lake is becoming increasingly popular on Instagram. Many people have probably already seen the bench by the reflecting lake (and wondered why it is upside down). The view of the Wilder Kaiser is definitely stunning.
Brief information:
- Where is the Astbergsee located? Idyllically situated at an altitude of around 1200 metres on the Goinger Astberg, near Kitzbühel in Tyrol
- Can you swim in the lake? Yes
- Uphill and downhill: Adults €27.5, young people €21, children €14. All Mountain railway prices can be found here (under Going)
- Travelling times in summer: daily from 9.00 - 17.00 hrs
- Travelling times in winter: The mountain railway is located in the ski area SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental mountain railways
How do you get there? There is either a cable car from Going (Marchstraße 53, 6353 Schattseite), or you can park at the Brenneralm in Ellmau and then it's a 10-15 minute walk. In any case, you can walk round the lake itself in a few minutes.
Tip: Go early in the morning or late in the evening, when there is the least wind and you get a nice reflection. Also, there won't be so many people posing in front of the bench
Further information: In summer, the 20 ponies of the Astberg Pony Alm for numerous visitors. In winter, the 4.5 km long Toboggan runwhich is also illuminated in the evening.
