Bad Ischl is an excellent starting point for excursions in the Salzkammergut.
When we arrive, the famous "Imperial Days" takes place. Around 18 August, Bad Ischl is dedicated to the birthday of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Numerous festivities take place in the imperial town during this period to mark the occasion. Time and again, you will come across people in disguise.
Highlights in Bad Ischl:
- Imperial villa with imperial park: Emperor Franz Joseph spent his summer months here in the villa. In 1914, he signed the declaration of war against Serbia, from which the First World War developed.
- Zauner confectionery: within 300 metres there are 2 branches of this famous former k.u.k. Hof-Zuckerbäckerei (Pfarrgasse 7 and Hasnerallee 2)
- The Katrin: The cable car leads almost directly from the city to this mountain, which is perfect for hiking. Here you can find our Field report.
