The impressive Clam Castle: A residence with history
The Clam Castle is a residence of the Clam-Martinic family and is located in the municipality of Klam in the district of Perg in Upper Austria. The rock castle stands on a wooded ridge above the market town of Klam, which drops steeply on one side to the Klam Gorge.
The castle complex is a palace inhabited by the owners all year round. Clam Castle was fundamentally rebuilt in the 14th century by the Hauser family, so that nothing of the original 12th century fortifications can be seen today. The oldest part of Clam Castle still visible today is the higher round tower built in the 13th century.
