The Eis-Greissler in Krumbach, Lower Austria, is a small adventure park beautifully situated in the midst of the Bucklige Welt. It includes over 15 attractions divided into the following areas: Adventure Park, Ice Time Travel, and Dining. But let’s go through them step by step.
Adventure Park
The Adventure Park makes sense for children aged around 3 years and older, as they need to be a certain size for many rides, but they are allowed in. Here are some highlights:
Ice-Water World
Play, splash, cool down: Your children won’t want to leave the three fun water adventure playgrounds on hot days. The raft pond is particularly popular with kids. You can cross the lake on a raft. No need to worry, the pond is about 70 cm deep. For younger children, it’s advisable to wear swim floats. You can splash around carefree at the Stanitzel spray station or the water playground; the ground is well-padded with rubber mats – here, young guests of all ages can enjoy hours of water fun. Don’t forget to bring your swim gear!
Bucklbahn
This roller coaster is visible from the parking lot. Children aged three and over and at least 90 cm tall can ride it. You get three rounds for each wait. Tip: Pay attention to the signs; the line moves slowly, so it can happen that you wait for half an hour or more. But it’s fun for young and old alike!
Milchshaker
New in the Adventure Park: the “Milchshaker,” a freestyle tower over 10 meters high, controlled by the mascot cow, Rubi. An adrenaline rush for ages 3 and up!
Bouncy Cushions
Two huge bouncy cushions invite you to bounce, and you can climb up another one. In theory, it’s great fun, but the lack of shade makes the plastic very hot in the summer, and you can’t go up with shoes…
Slide Tower
On the breathtaking giant slide, you zip down 35 meters from the tower with jute sacks. You have to climb a few steps before the ride, but the descent is a real treat worth it!
Marble Runs
Grab a wooden marble (bring your own or buy one for 2 euros). You can try your luck on a total of three marble runs, either alone or in a marble race with your friends. One downside is that the marble often falls out of the track and rolls down the hill beside it… Suitable for all age groups.
Skill Games: Throwing Ice Balls or “Ready, Set, Cow”
Here, you can each throw axes or balls into a basket or hole and show how skilled you are.
Of course, there are also various children’s playgrounds with swings, slides, sandboxes, a Maypole carousel, and more. There are also a few goats, sheep, and rabbits.
Dining in the Adventure Park
At the snack bar and in the Shake Scheune, you’ll find only small items like hot dogs, schnitzel rolls, fries, mozzarella sticks, and the like. Of course, there’s plenty of delicious ice cream too. If you want a table and chairs, you’ll need to go to the restaurant. The restaurant is outside the Adventure Park, but you can get back in with a stamp.
If you want a table for lunch, you absolutely must reserve at least 24 hours in advance, or you’ll have no chance.
Ice Time Travel
This is a virtual tour of the history of ice and the Eis-Greissler production. Admission is extra and costs about €12.9 for children and €15.9 for adults. You can find all prices here.
This tour takes 1 hour, covers three stations, and offers a fascinating experience:
- The Journey on the Eis-Greissler Express: Take a trip back in time to the Ice Age of Krumbach, thousands of years ago. You’ll sit on a train and receive interesting and fun information about ice cream production. You’ll be shaken a bit during the “ride.”
- The Spectacular Flying Theater: Virtually fly through the ice cream production and experience firsthand how delicious ice cream flavors are made. This 5D cinema experience engages all your senses. Children will be particularly amazed.
- The Ice Cream Flavor Lab: Here, you can taste 3 of the latest flavors.
Our Conclusion about Eis-Greissler Adventure Park
Overall, we found the visit very entertaining. It’s exciting for children aged between 3 and around 13 years. The water world is a highlight, especially on hot days. Speaking of hot, there’s one big downside: the lack of shade. Even though they try to provide shade with tarpaulins, there’s clearly not enough shade in the park, and the trees are still too small. Definitely bring plenty of sunscreen and hats!
For some activities, it was simply too hot. However, the ice cream tastes fantastic, and they clearly make an effort to entertain the youngest guests. You certainly won’t get bored.
The Ice Time Travel was nice for a one-time visit but honestly a bit overpriced. Once you’ve seen it once, it’s enough.
But we’ll definitely come back to the Adventure Park.
