The hiking trail to the waterfall
The well-signposted hiking trail starts at the car park and initially leads up a paved road. You walk slightly uphill for just over 5 minutes. Eventually you come to the ticket office, where there is also a small snack bar where you can fortify yourself with chips, cake or beer. The sign says "only 10 minutes to the waterfall", but in reality it is barely 5 minutes.
The trail goes through a shady forest along the Schwarzbach. On the right you can see a beautiful old water mill. After just a few minutes you reach the first viewing platform, from which you can see the lower part of the waterfall. This part is the more famous and beautiful one. The path is easy to walk and suitable for families with children, but you should make sure you wear sturdy shoes as it can be slippery in some places. If you want, you can also hike further to the upper part of the waterfall.
The fascination of the waterfall
The falling water creates a deafening roar, which, combined with the fresh forest air, creates a refreshing atmosphere. The view is particularly impressive after heavy rainfall or during snowmelt, when the water flow is particularly strong. There are several viewing points, each offering different perspectives of the waterfall and making excellent photo opportunities.
Tips for your visit
To get the most out of the experience, it's best to come early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. Pack a light jacket as the spray can get chilly near the waterfall. If you have a little more time, you can also explore the surrounding hiking trails that lead through the dense forest and along the Schwarzbach stream.
