Brief information:
- What is the “Hohe Gloriette”? a vantage point over the Wörthersee above Pörtschach.
- How can it be reached? by a 30 minute hike.
- Is it worth the climb? Yes, you have a wonderful view of the Wörthersee
- Is the path difficult? The path is for young and old, but it is not suitable for prams as it goes uphill through the forest.
We park in the parking lot opposite the Hotel Porcia in Pörtschach. We start at 10:00 in the morning. We walk through the underpass and up the stairs. The path branches towards it, we take the concrete path on the left. After a few meters, a signposted forest path leads off to the right. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the Hohe Gloriette observation platform. Even our two-year-old son was able to cope with the walk, but it is not suitable for prams.
You can hardly miss the path, as yellow signposts are set up again and again. Shortly before the viewing platform you pass a castle ruin, which unfortunately is only open on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. After a total of half an hour we arrive at the small, white pillar pavilion. The vantage point is definitely one of the most beautiful on Lake Wörthersee.
From the top you have a wonderful view. Pörtschach is on the left on the same bank. Opposite you can see the places Maria Wörth and Dellach, among others.
