Brief information:
- What is the “High Gloriette”? a viewing point over Lake Wörthersee above Pörtschach.
- How can I reach her? Only via a hike of about 30 minutes.
- Is the climb worth it? Yes, you have a wonderful view of Lake Wörthersee
- Is the path difficult? The path is suitable for young and old, but it is not suitable for strollers as it goes uphill through the forest.
We park in the parking lot opposite the Hotel Porcia in Pörtschach. We set off at 10:00 a.m. We go through the underpass and up the stairs. The path then branches off, we take the left concrete path. After a few meters, a signposted forest path leads off to the right. To the Hohe Gloriette observation tower It takes about 30 minutes to walk. Even our two-year-old son was able to manage the walk, although it is not suitable for a stroller.
It is virtually impossible to miss the path, as there are yellow signposts all along the way. Shortly before the viewing platform, you pass a castle ruin, which is unfortunately only open on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. After a total of half an hour, we arrive at the small, white columned pavilion at the top. The viewing point is definitely one of the most beautiful on Lake Wörthersee.
There is a wonderful view from the top. To the left on the same bank is Pörtschach. Opposite you can see the towns of Maria Wörth and Dellach.
