The Circular hiking trail, which we walked in the fall, is highly recommended!
The lake circuit begins at the car park at the Vorderer Langbathsee. A signposted walking path runs along the northern shore on a forest road near the lake's shore. If the long circuit takes too long, turn left on the western shore of the Vorderer Langbathsee and walk back along the southern shore (left side of the lake). On the way to the Hinterer Langbathsee, you overcome a step in the terrain on the ascending forest road. Past a landslide landscape where the lake's outflow dries up, you reach the shore of the Hinterer Langbathsee, where a few benches invite you to rest. The lake, in which mixed forest is reflected, and the cliffs of the Höllengebirge mountains offer an impressive motif. After a circuit around the Hinterer Langbathsee, you walk back to the Vorderer Langbathsee on a forest road. The last section leads back to the starting point on a wide path.
Walking time:
Around the Vorderer Langbathsee: approx. 45 minutes
From the front to the back Langbathsee and back: approx. 1 1/2 hours
Around both Langbath lakes: approx. 2 hours
