Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the most important composers in the world, was born on January 27, 1756 in Salzburg He spent his childhood and youth in the apartment of his parents Leopold and Anna Maria and his sister Nannerl on the third floor of the house. In 1773 the family moved to Mozart residence at Makartplatz.
The house in the Getreidegasse you can find it very easily, as there is always a crowd of tourists standing in front of it to photograph it
The house today
His birthplace is now a museum that commemorates his life and work. It houses an exhibition that offers visitors an insight into the life and work of the composer.
On display in the museum
The exhibition includes originals from Mozart's time, including furniture, musical instruments, letters and sheet music. The highlight for Mozart fans: the historical instruments, such as Mozart's childhood violin and clavichord. We also found it exciting that four locks of Mozart's hair can be seen here. However, a genetic analysis showed that only three of the four locks came from the same owner.
There are also interactive stations that introduce visitors to Mozart’s music.
