Ascent options for hikers
In summer, the Rossbrand is a paradise for hikers. There are numerous well-marked hiking trails that lead to its summit. One of the most popular routes starts in Radstadt and leads via the Bürgerbergalm. The trail is moderately difficult and offers marvellous views of the surrounding landscape along the way. The hike takes around 2-3 hours and leads through dense forests and flowering alpine meadows. For families with children, there are also shorter and easier trails that are less demanding but still offer wonderful panoramas.
- From Radstadt via the Bürgerbergalm (trail 462) or via Rohrmoos (trail 461): approx. 3 hours walking time
- From Mandling via the Mandlberggut and the Steinalm (trail 460): approx. 4 hours walking time

Mountain bike & e-bike tour on the Rossbrand

- From Altenmarkt via the Stoneman Taurista route: approx. 9.7 km, 850 metres in altitude
Ascent via the panoramic road
For those who want to reach the summit of the Rossbrand without too much physical exertion, there is the option of travelling along the panoramic road. The 12-kilometre toll-free road is well maintained and offers spectacular views of the surrounding Alps along the way. The ascent takes around 30 minutes and ends at the car park near the Radstädter Hütte. From here, it is only a 20-minute walk to the summit, where an unforgettable 360-degree view awaits you. The panoramic road is an excellent option for families with small children or for people who are not so good on foot.

From the hut's terrace, you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains, which makes your stay even more enjoyable. In winter, the Rossbrand is transformed into a Paradise for ski tourers and cross-country skiers. The region offers well-groomed cross-country ski trails and ski tour routes that are suitable for both beginners and experienced winter sports enthusiasts. The ski tour from Radstadt to the Rossbrand is particularly popular. This tour leads through snow-covered forests and across extensive Alpine pastures, offering spectacular views of the wintry Alpine landscape along the way. The tour takes around 3-4 hours and is moderately difficult.
