The Seebensee is a very popular excursion destination in the Tyrolean municipality of Ehrwald. The idyllic hiking route is particularly suitable for families. Starting from the mountain station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn cable car, you hike 500 metres uphill on a relatively easy ascent to the Seebensee lake. The high mountain lake nestled between the Vorderer Tajakopf in the east and the Vorderer Drachenkopf is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol and invites you to pause and refresh yourself. There is a wonderful view of deep blue-turquoise water and nature can be enjoyed to the full. The view from here over the lake with the Zugspitze massif, whose mighty rock massif is reflected in the lake, is uniquely beautiful.
Walking time approx. 1.5-2 hours. The shores of the Seebensee are often very crowded during the day, as the lake is becoming increasingly popular in the age of Instagram.
Tip: From the Seebensee From here, it is possible to continue up to the Coburger Hütte in around 40 minutes on foot. There is another beautiful mountain lake below the hut: the dragon lake. Return the same way.
