The Styrians advertise that the Stubenbergsee is the warmest swimming lake in Austria. When we arrive in May, it is just 18°. However, this does not surprise us, after all, the outside temperature is even below that.
An ice cream seller assures us that the very popular lake gets up to 28° in summer. The lake is particularly suitable for families with children, as the area has a large sand playground with awnings and diving platforms, as well as a 60m long water slide, a pirate ship, stone islands, a small lighthouse and many opportunities to play in the shallow water.
There are swimming islands for the adults and if you feel like it, you can also rent a boat or stand up paddle.
If you want, you can go around the lake on a 3km long, completely flat and concrete path. It leads past a few inns, where you can comfortably get food or a delicious ice cream. The circumnavigation takes about 30 minutes, depending on how fast you are traveling. There are always opportunities to lie down in the green grass.
Incidentally, the path is perfect for families with strollers, wheelchair users or runners, as it is completely flat along the bank.
