General information about the Styrian Lake Constance
The Styrian Lake Constance, a gem in the middle of the enchanting Schladming-Dachstein region, is a well-kept secret in Styria. This mountain lake is extremely popular with locals and visitors alike. With its crystal-clear water and the surrounding mountain scenery, the Styrian Lake Constance invites you to take a relaxing break in nature.
The Styrian Lake Constance is the perfect starting point for hikes of all kinds. From family-friendly walks along the lake shore to leisurely mountain tours, such as the Hans-Wödl-Hut at the Hüttensee, and even alpine adventures, such as the Hochwildstelle or the Höchstein. For those who prefer something quieter, a leisurely rowing boat tour is a good option to admire the surrounding mountains from the water. Please note that swimming in the lake is not permitted.
An idyllic walk around the Styrian Lake Constance & to the waterfall
Starting point: Large parking lot
Duration: About 1.5 hours (including time for the waterfall)
Difficulty level: Easy (around the lake) to medium (to the waterfall)
A relaxing day at the Styrian Lake Constance begins in the spacious car park in the midst of the impressive nature of Styria. The asphalt path along the stream leads you gently through the picturesque landscape, and After about 15 minutes you reach the shore of the lake.
On the right hand side there is a charming fish restaurant, the Forellenhof Inn, overlooking the lake. We circle the lake clockwise, but the direction is a matter of taste. The entire circuit takes about 45 minutes, and along the way you can enjoy the wonderful view of the sparkling lake and the surrounding mountains.
At the opposite end of the lake there is the opportunity to Lake Constance Waterfall to hike. Although the walk from here is officially given as 30 minutes, you will probably only need about 20 minutes. You go up the climb with the number 782 to the waterfall or even further to the Hans-Wödl-Hütte at the Hüttensee. Note, however, that the path to the waterfall, unlike the walk around the lake, is not suitable for strollers. You hike up a relatively wide but stony and rocky path.
To be honest, we found the waterfall less spectacular up close than we expected. Nevertheless, it is a worthwhile exploration that you can incorporate into your tour. On the way back, you continue your walk around the lake clockwise and you will soon reach the fish restaurant again.
There you will come across a sign that proudly proclaims that this place was once the second place in the election for the most beautiful place in Styria We can certainly understand this, but we note that the weather during our visit was perhaps not quite as brilliant as it was during the election.
A small hint: It is best to visit the Styrian Lake Constance in the morning or at lunchtime, as the afternoon sun is blocked by the surrounding mountains and the lake is in the shade. This way you can get the most out of your visit.
