Discover the fascinating world of Swarovski Crystal Worlds!
The Swarovski Crystal Worlds are an art and adventure park consisting of a 7.5 hectare garden landscape, art museum, shop and restaurant, located in Wattens in Tyrol. They are among the most visited attractions in Tyrol. In 2011, the Crystal Worlds were the eighth most visited attraction in Austria with 680,000 visitors.
Designed by André Heller and opened in 1995, the Crystal Worlds are celebrating their 25th anniversary. That's why admission is not €19, but only €12.50 per person. The park is intended for young and old. Art for the older ones, games for the younger ones.
Here some examples:
Just behind the restaurant there is a surreal crystal cloud above the black mirror water, a large-scale installation consisting of 800,000 hand-set crystals.
Next to it is the children's play park, consisting of a play tower, a carousel and a small maze. Our little man liked the marble run the most, but he is only 1 year old.
The highlight (according to Swarovski) is the indoor area with 17 mystical cabinets of wonder. To be honest, we found them only moderately exciting, but maybe we're just art ignoramuses.
Conclusion: We only visited the Crystal Worlds because rain was forecast for the whole day and we were hoping to be under cover. But it didn't rain anyway.
We thought the Crystal Worlds were OK. If you're nearby, you can visit them, but we don't understand the "hype". Maybe it's because I've never bought anything from Swarovski (or probably never will).
