The Swarovski Crystal Worlds are an art and adventure park consisting of a 7.5 hectare garden landscape, art museum, shop and restaurant, located in Wattens in Tyrol. They are among the most visited sights in Tyrol. In 2011, with 680,000 visitors, the Crystal Worlds ranked eighth of the most visited attractions in Austria.
Conceived by André Heller, opened in 1995, the Kristallwelten celebrate their 25th anniversary. That is why the entrance fee is not € 19, but only € 12.50 per person. The park is intended for young and old.Art for the elderly, games for the young.
Here some examples:
Immediately behind the restaurant there is a surreal-looking crystal cloud above the black mirror water, a large installation consisting of 800,000 hand-set crystals.
Next to it is the play park for children, consisting of a play tower, a carousel and a small maze. Our little man liked the marble run best, but he’s only 1 year old.
The highlight (according to Swarovski) is the indoor area with 17 mystical chambers of wonders. To be honest, we found them only moderately exciting, but from the left we are only artificers.
Conclusion: We only visited the Crystal Worlds because rain had been forecast for the whole day and we had hoped to be covered. But it didn’t rain anyway.
We found the Crystal Worlds ok. If you are around you can visit them, but we don’t understand the “hype”. Maybe it’s also because I’ve never bought anything from Swarovsky (or probably will).
