Brief information:
-
What is the Nature Ice Palace?
It is a walkable crevasse with magical ice stalactites, giant sparkling ice crystals, frozen waterfalls and even a glacial lake.
- Where is it located?
In Zillertal, Tyrol - Opening hours
Open all year round. For children from 6 years, daily without prior registration from 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. (hourly) - Entry:
Adults € 26.00 / Children up to 11 years € 13.00 – The entrance fee does not include the ascent and descent with glacier bus 1, 2 and 3!
The Nature Ice Palace on Hintertux Glacier should not be missed during any visit to Zillertal The advantage: It is open all year round, regardless of the weather. Nevertheless, we recommend a visit when the weather is good, otherwise you will not be able to enjoy the view from the panoramic terrace. After all, you also have to pay for the trip up. In 2021, the gondola ride costs 40€ and the Nature Ice Palace another 26€.
The entrance to the ice cave is only a 5-minute walk from the mountain station of the Glacier Bus 3 away. Actually, the cave can only be visited with a guided tour, but this is different when we arrive: September is the off-season and it is Corona time. We are allowed to explore the cave on our own from the entrance. By the way, you can't get lost because the path is narrow and only goes in one direction.
In the Natural Ice Palace reigns 365 days a constant Temperature of 0° degreesYou should definitely wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes, preferably hiking boots or ski boots. Otherwise you might end up like other visitors we saw: because they didn't have sturdy shoes, they had to slide on their bottoms to get to the entrance of the cave.
In the walkable glacier crevasse you will find magical ice stalactites, huge sparkling ice crystals, frozen waterfalls and even a glacial lake - for us personally the highlight of the tour.
There is still a lot Special tours, which must be booked in advance, such as:
- Stand Up Paddling
- Exclusive photo tour
- Scientific leadership
- Kayaking & Ice Climbing
- Ice swimming
- World record shaft
