1. Rafting on the Tiroler Ache

The family-friendly rafting tour starts directly at the Base Camp, where you launch the boat. The current is moderate, making it ideal for children from 5 years and beginners. While the guests paddle, Sabine steers the boat and tells interesting facts about the river and the surrounding area. About half an hour later you reach the impressive Entenlochklamm, a spectacular gorge with steep rock walls and wild water. The picturesque landscape and the gentle thrill make the tour an unforgettable experience for the whole family. After about an hour you can stop at a bridge, go swimming or let yourself drift in the current. The relaxed atmosphere and fun are the main focus. The tour ends around 4 p.m. and a van takes you back to the base camp. This rafting tour is particularly recommended for families and offers an exciting and safe adventure. 2. Carriage ride around Lake Walchsee with the Dagnhof riding facility

The carriage ride around Lake Walchsee, offered by the Dagnhof Riding Centre, is an idyllic experience that lasts about an hour and takes you through the picturesque surroundings of Lake Walchsee.

The ride goes clockwise around the lake, starting in the town, which initially slows down traffic a bit. At Kössen, you turn right into the forest on the shore of the lake and continue along the lake, seeing various places to swim. It is a beautiful ride that takes about 50 minutes. Accompanied by the gentle sound of the horses trotting, you ride along the lake, past lush meadows and through shady forests, with the fresh mountain air and the impressive views of the surrounding mountains making for an idyllic experience.

We had a reservation at 4pm, but the carriage left 10 minutes early, so we had to take the next ride, which also left almost 10 minutes early. So be sure to get there early.

3. Creative summer workshop – making butter like in grandma’s day

The Creative summer workshop in Kaiserwinkl offers a varied program for children with over 20 exciting activities. In addition to family activities such as llama walks and alpine adventures, there are exciting experiences such as kids canyoning and archery workshops.
A special highlight is the Workshop on traditional butter making, which will take place on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in 2024. Children will learn what life on the mountain pastures used to be like - hard and hard work. After an hour in a rustic hut with historical equipment, it's time to milk cows (with plastic udders) and train their eyesight in the grass. Then a quiz about cows and milk is solved before the butter-making process finally begins. After about 15 minutes of vigorous stirring, the butter is ready and is tasted with bread and various spices. The by-product, buttermilk, is also a delight. Here you can find our Experience report “Making butter like in grandma’s day”.
