General
Situated at almost 1,600 meters above sea level, Brandalm stretches along the ski and hiking trail in the heart of the Ramsau Almgebiet at the foot of the Dachstein. The surrounding mountain scenery and the impressive views of the Dachstein South Walls and the majestic Schladminger Tauern invite you to enjoy the sun terrace both in summer and winter.
How to Get There?
For an uncomplicated journey to Brandalm, follow the ski and hiking trail. The hut is well signposted and easily accessible. In winter, toboggan rides are a particularly charming option to reach the alpine area. We personally park at the parking lot in front of Alpengasthaus Edelbrunn. From there, walk to the left of the guesthouse. Follow a forest path steadily uphill. The path is even manageable with a stroller, although our offspring doesn’t find it particularly exciting.
After some time, you’ll reach the Dachsteinhaus. Continue uphill on the forest path from here until you reach Brandalm after about 1 hour.
Family Adventure in Nature
Brandalm is not only a delight for adults but also a true children’s paradise. The natural playground with a slide, tunnel, and tadpole pond offers little adventurers space to explore. Parents can relax while the little ones explore their own children’s alp with wooden toys. In winter, unique toboggan runs on the ski trail down to Ramsau are enticing.
Alpine Delights
The culinary delights at Brandalm reflect a love for tradition. Regional specialties, from hearty beef soup to homemade farmhouse donuts, turn every visit into a gastronomic experience. The in-house organic farming ensures authentic and sustainable pleasures.
We visited Brandalm during its autumn donut season. We treated ourselves to meat-filled and cabbage-filled donuts, both of which we highly recommend. The ascent was well worth it. For dessert, there’s a “Schüsserlkrapfen” with cranberries and vanilla sauce.
PS: Between us, we’ve never seen such beautiful and clean restrooms in a hut 😉
Year-round Magic at Dachstein
Brandalm opens its doors not only in summer but also in the winter enchantment. Skiers can experience unique toboggan runs on the ski trail down to Ramsau. The cozy ambiance with a tiled stove and warm hospitality invites for a mountain retreat throughout the year.
