The history of the castle
The castle was built at the beginning of the 12th century and is around 150 metres long. It is located around 300 metres above the right bank of the Danube on a steep slope. During the Kuenringer period, the castle was successfully besieged and destroyed at least twice, which is why only a few foundations remain on the "Bürgl". Special sights are the unavoidable Prison called "Rosengärtlein" or the Chapel - a romantic place that can still be used for weddings or christenings.
